As part of the countrywide programme, the National Fisheries Week 2018 began in Bhola district on Thursday with a view to creating awareness among people to produce more fish through proper use of water-bodies.
The slogan of this year’s fisheries week is “Country self-sufficient in fish, Bangabandhur Bangladesh.”
The inaugural ceremony was followed by a discussion meeting and a colourful rally that paraded different streets of the district town. Deputy Commissioner of Bhola Mohammad Masud Alam attended the function as the chief guest while District Fisheries Officer Md. Ahsan Hasib Khan was in the chair.
Fishermen, different stakeholders, NGO representatives and other government officials participated in the programmme.
