Entertainment Report :
April 3 was the National Film Day. Despite planning elaborate programmes scheduled from yesterday morning on the occasion of the National Film Day, the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) premises remained virtually deserted most of the day.
BFDC had organised various programmes on April 3 to celebrate the National Film Day after two years because of the pandemic situation due to coronavirus. However, the day passed without any noticeable ceremonies or events.
April 3 was declared the National Film Day in 1957 when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman proposed the formation of the East Pakistan Provincial Council’s Film Development Corporation.
National Film Day was scheduled to start at 10:15am on Sunday at BFDC. But no formalities or celebration could be noticed on the premises of BFDC even after the hours bled into noon. The street in front of the administrative building was lined with old movie posters, colourful decorative clothes and balloons. However, the rest of the BFDC premises remained barren.
This year, National Film Day was supposed to be a big celebration after two years of break but there weren’t any noticeable changes in the atmosphere around BFDC. None of the notable celebrities could be seen. Only the administrative staff and random people were there on this special day.
