Staff Reporter :
National Eidgah is being ready for Eid congregation in front of the Supreme Court premises. It was kept suspended for last two years due to the corona virus pandemic.
The largest festival of the Muslim community is Eid-ul-Fitr, which will be celebrated on May 2 or May 3 subject to the sighting of the Shawal moon. Since the restriction on the Eidgah has been withdrawn, the worshippers are highly eager to offer Eid Jamaat there.
If the weather is fair, the main Eid congregational prayer will be held at 8:00 am at the National Eidgah. But, in case of inclement weather, the prayer would be held in the morning at 9:00 am at Baitul Mokarram National Mosque.
About 90 thousand worshipers can take part
in the Eid congregational prayer this year. Besides, 5,500 women worshipers also will be there. President, ministers, secretaries, political leaders and the elite are likely to attend the Eid prayer.
Foolproof security has been arranged round the Eidgah. Apart from these, dog squads, mobile watchtowers, mobile command centers and bomb disposal units will be active during the Eid prayer. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Police will remain ready to meet the emergencies.
Officials from the Dhaka South City Corporation said that the preparation to hold the prayer is nearly completed. All preparations will be done in time, they said.
