The Education Ministry has taken elaborate programme in observance of the National Education Week 2016 which begins today.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is expected to join the inaugural function as the chief guest at International Mother Language Institute at Segunbagicha in the city at 9.30am while Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will be present as special guest.
Earlier, the education minister will lead a colourful procession from the premises of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education at 9am.
The other programmes included competitions in 14 categories like karate, hamd, naat, literature and culture at schools, colleges, madrasas and technical educational institutions across the country.
President Abdul Hamid is expected to join the closing function of the week at Osmani Memorial auditorium on May 28.
