An 18-day long national drama festival titled ‘Jatiya Natya Utsab 2016’ has began on Friday in the capital with the slogan ‘this soil not for militancy, but for humanity’.
Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and Bangladesh Shilapakala Academy (BSA) organised the festival in collaboration with the Cultural Affairs Ministry.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present at the inaugural ceremony of the festival as the chief guest.
A total of 58 troupes, including 26 ones from Dhaka, will stage one drama each at different auditoriums of the city during the festival.
The dramas staged in the main auditorium of Jatiya Natyashala, Experimental Theatre Hall, Studio Theatre Hall of BSA and Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium at Bailey Road at 7 pm every day.
