The National Disaster Preparedness Day- 2018 was observed on Saturday in the district with a call to expedite disaster preparedness programmes for reducing the loss of lives and properties Kishoreganj District Administration arranged a discussion, rally, and fire service civil defence also a demonstration of antificial earthquake drill on G.D Govt. College Ground marking the Day. discussion was held at G.D Govt. College ground on Saturday morning. Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury attended as chief guest with ADC (Gen ) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil in the chair.
t was addressed among others by District Education Officer Mustafizur Rahman, NDC Shamima Yesmin, Assistant Director of Fire Service Md. Dulal Miah, Care District Manager Kamrun Naher, POPI-DCRM Technical Officer Kloudiay Nokrek Keya and CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito. A colourfull rally brought out in the town marking the National Disaster Preparedness Day.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Officials at a discussion have said Bangladesh has become a role model in disaster management through reducing losses of human lives and properties during natural calamities by ensuring efficient emergency response managements.
“The present government has taken various effective steps, including early preparedness, to achieve the success in reducing disaster risks and losses,” said Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib while addressing the post-rally discussion as the chief guest. The district administration organised the meeting jointly with District Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) and NGOs on Zilla School ground in observance of the National Disaster Preparedness Day-2018 on Saturday afternoon.
The day was observed putting maximum importance on adoption of adequate early preparedness and disseminating necessary knowledge and information among the common people to bring down losses of lives and properties during disasters.
On the occasion, Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station held an artificial fire fighting drill on the Zila School ground in presence of many people, including officials, students, teachers and local elite.
With Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-General) Rabiul Islam in the chair, ADC (Education and ICT) Rashidul Monnaf, Additional District Magistrate Hafizur Rahman, deputy director of Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Asaduzzaman Sheikh, its Assistant Director Yunus Ali, among others, addressed the discussion.
