Bowlers dominate as Chittagong suffer batting jolt

Though five-run short to reach Sazzadul Haque to century, Chittagong Division suffered batting debacle in their first innings as they bundled out for 260 against Rajshahi Division on the first day of tier-2 four-day 19th Walton Fridge National Cricket League (NCL) held on Friday at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Sazzadul hit 12 boundaries and one over boundary during his 176-ball stay on the crease before fell victim of nervous ninety and also shared an important 128-run partnership with Sayeed Sarkar (70) for the fifth wicket stand, after Chittagong slipped 4 for 71 runs after they sent to bat first by Rajshahi.
Farhad Reza caused the major damage as he grabbed four Chittagong’ wickets conceding 86 runs. He was well supported by Shariful Islam and Delwar Hossain, who both shared three wickets each for 49 and 69 runs respectively.
In reply, Rajshahi Division stared their first innings in the afternoon and scored 34 for 2 as bad light forced to stop the play.
Mizanur Rahman with 20 and Delwar Hossain with 0 on the crease as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Sakhawat Hosain and Mehedi Hasan Rana shared one wicket each for Chittagong.
Khulna dominate as Robi hits ton on day 1

Opener Robiul Islam Robi scored a magnificent ton while Khulna Division dominated their first day as they scored 307 for 4 against Barisal Division in the fifth round tier-1 four-day match of Walton Smart Fridge 19th National Cricket League (NCL) held on Friday at Shaheed Kamruzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Robi, who finally baked to the pavilion being retire hurt, contributed 108 off 196 balls with 17 boundaries and also shared a 110-run opening stand with Anamul Haque (44) and again 84 run for the third wicket stand with Tushar Imran (51), after Khulna opted to bat first.
Middle order batsman Ziaur Rahman was remained unbeaten with a well composed knock of 52-run along with Nahidul Islam as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Salman Hossain bagged two Khulna’s wickets conceding 60 runs.
Shuvo, Naeem propel Rangpur Div 321/4 on day 1

Magnificent tons came from the bats of Shorawardy Shuvo and Naeem as Rangpur Division ruled the first day as they scored 321 for 4 against Dhaka Division at stumps in the tier-1 four-day fifth round match of 19th Walton Smart Fridge National Cricket League held on Friday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Batting first after winning the toss, Rangpur Division suffered early batting jolt as they lost their top three batsmen at 55 runs in the score board.
Then Shuva and Naeem came to rescue Rangpur with a stubborn 266 runs fourth wicket stand to take Ranpur to a strong position.
Shuvo contributed 145 runs off 203 balls with 18 boundaries and two sixes while Naeem composed a fine knock of 120 off 214 balls that studded with 15 boundaries and two sixer. He was remained unbeaten until the close of second day’s play.
Shuvagata Hom picked up three Rajshahi Division’s wickets conceding 95 runs.
Imtiaz rescues Sylhet Div on day 1
BSS, Dhaka
Opener Imtiaz Hossain scored a responsible ton as Sylhet Division attained 241 for 6 against Dhaka Metro on the first day of tier-2 fifth round of four-day 19th Walton Smart Fridge National Cricket League (NCL) held on Friday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Imtiaz scored 132 off 217 balls laced with 17 boundaries to rescue his team from initial batting jolt, after Sylhet Division opted to bat first. National discard Rajin Saleh contributed 42 runs.
Ezaz Ahmed and Rahatul Ferdous were on the crease with 27 for one as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Saykat Ali, Sharif Ullah and Nihad Uz Zaman shared two wickets each for Metro.
