The fifth round of the Walton 16th National Cricket League (NCL) will begin today (Monday) at 9:30 am at four separate venues in Dhaka and its adjoining areas.
In the fifth round’s opening fixtures, defending champion and also league leader Dhaka Division will face Khulna Division, who took second slot after the fourth round, at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah while Rangpur Division will take on Rajshahi Division at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-3 Ground in Savar.
In the two other four-dayers, Sylhet Division will play against Dhaka Metropolis at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur while Barisal Division will meet Chittagong Division at BKSP Ground-2.
After the fourth round of the eight-team battle, Dhaka Division narrowly remained unbeaten and maintained the top slot bagging 80 points from four matches. Khulna Division regained their previous position bagging 75 points with three wins and a loss, putting Rangpur Division down to the third place, having secured 63 points with two wins and two losses.
Dhaka Metro leapfrogged Rajshahi Division to take fourth position securing 45 points with win-loss 1-1 and two draws while Rajshahi Division bagged 42 points with one win, two losses and one draw.
Sylhet, Barisal and Chittagong Division remained in their previous places–6th, 7th and 8th– respectively.
