Chittagong suffer batting collapse on day 1

Fine bowling saw Chittagong Division suffered a severe batting collapse as they were bowled out for a paltry total of 141 in 54.1 overs against Rajshahi Division on the first day of second round four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Sunday at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.
Middle order Irfan Sukkur (28), Yasir Ali (24), Mahbubul Karin (22) and Nazimuddin (20) were the notable scorers for Chittagong who could reach the double figure mark. Earlier after losing the toss, they were asked to bat first by Rajshahi Division.
Farhad Reza was the wrecker-in-chief for Rajshahi as he grabbed four Chittagong wickets conceding 45 runs. He was well supported by Saqlain Sajib who picked up three wickets giving away 36 runs.
In reply, Rajshahi Division batsmen complemented their bowlers as they got off to a good start in their first innings by rattling up 121 for 1 in 35 overs at stumps on day one.
Mizanur Rahman and Junaid Siddique were on the crease with 71 and 45 runs when the stumps were drawn for the day. Hossain Ali of Chittagong Division took one wicket for 10 runs.

Barisal Division batsmen reign on day 1

Middle order batsman Abu Sayeem and Sohag Gazi scored brilliant half centuries to power Barisal Division to dominate on the first day as they piled up 301 for 6 against Dhaka Metropolis at stumps in
the second round of four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Sunday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Batting first after winning the important toss, Barisal Division lost their top four batsmen inside 50 overs, but Abu Sayeem and Sohag Gazi rescued Barisal sharing a priceless 129 runs partnership for the fifth wicket stand.
Sayeem on 98 became the victim of nervous ninety as he narrowly missed his deserving century for two runs shot, but Gazi remained unbeaten and looks like heading for century with 87 runs along with Monir Hossain who was also unbeaten on the crease with 8 runs as the stumps were drawn for the day.
Former national captain Mohammad Ashraful, playing his official first match after five years, was the pick of Dhaka Metropolis bowler as he captured three wickets giving away 49 runs while Arafat Sunny claimed two wickets conceding 99 runs.

Khulna Division 172/1 on day 1

Opener Anamul Haque and one down Mosaddek Iftekhar scored brilliant half centuries to see Khulna Division got off to a good start as they score 172 for 1 in 50.3 overs at stumps against Dhaka
Division in the rain-hit first day of the second round of four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Sunday at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Khulna Division lost their opener Mahedi Hasan for 8, but Anamul (84) and Mosaddek (71) with a brilliant 164 runs stand for the second wicket stand saw the team was comfortable place when weather played foul as abrupt rain forced the play to be stopped at around 1.50 pm.
National pacer Shahadat Hossain took the only wicket on the day giving away 34 runs.
