First National Conference on Earthquake and Environmental Disaster (NCEED) was held at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology recently with Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman,Director of Institute of Earthquake Engineering Research in the chair.
Vice chancellor of CUET Prof. dr. Md. Jahangir Alam graced the conference as chief guest. In his brief deliberations of the chief guest, he Bangladesh is going to face severe affect of climate change due to geographical reasons. He emphasized the coordinated efforts to all to face this coming disaster . He also mentionedthat man created pollution and global warming are the reasons for environmental disaster.
Pro-VC Prof. Md. Rafiqul Alam also spoke in it as special guest. Meanwhile a seminar also held in the conference over theme ÔÔ Environmental Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Geology and Geophysics . Among others, Asstt. Professor of Disaster & Environmental Engineering Prof. Dr. Markul Hassan Majumder, associaste professor of civil engineering deptt Dr. Ayesha Akhtar also spoke on the occasion. Royal Cement Ltd was the title sponsor of the conference.
