The 98th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman observed on Friday with due respect across the Sylhet Area .
The day is also celebrated as the National Children’s Day. The day is also a public holiday. On this day in 1920, the architect of the nation was born at Tungipara of Gopalganj.
Different cities took out various programmes marking the day.
Sylhet District administration, different political parties, educational institution and socio-cultural organizations arranged detailed programmes to mark the day.
The programmes included children rally, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, cultural function, discussion, essay competition, drawing competition and poetry recitation.
As part of the government program, the district administration and Bangladesh Shishu Academy arranged a daylong programme including competitions on painting, handwriting, essay and extempore speech for children paying rich tribute to the Father of the Nation at District Shilpakola Academy.
Later, a large number of children and adolescent rally started from DC office that ended at Shilpokala Academy after parading different important city streets.
Huge number of people including schoolboys and girls with colorful dresses joined the rally.
Gafargaon (Mymensingh) Correspondent reports: On the occasion of the birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and National Children’s Day, tiffin boxes have been distributed among about two thousand and five hundred children by Longair Union Parishad at Gafargaon Upazila under Mymensingh recently .
A two day- long of National Children Day programme was held at the premises of Maizebari Harem Tai High School and a discussion meeting titled ” from ‘Khoka’ to Bangabandhu” has been held by Longair Union Parishad on Thursday . AC (Land) Shiekh Md.Shamsul Arefin was present as Chief Guest in the discussion meeting and children . Langair Union Parishad Chairman and former president of Press Club Abdullah Al Amin Biplob presided over the meeting. Assistant Education Officer Nurul Islam , Press Club President Ataur Rahman Mintu , Wahidur Rahman Badal, chairman of the Managing Committee of Hatem Tai High School, Nijam Uddin, Awami league president of Langair Union, Rafiqul Islam,General Secretary of Gafargaon South primary Teacher Somitee, Ataur Rahman, teacher of Langair primary school , Child -learners ,Taslim Sultana , Munni delivered their speeches on this discussion meeting .
Gouripur (Mymensingh) Correspondent adds: The 98th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day was observed with an elaborate programme in Gouripur upazila under Mymensingh on Friday .
Apart from the ruling Awami League , Gouripur Upazila Unit and its front and associated bodies, different political, socio-cultural and educational organisations chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Day, which is also the Nation Children Day, with due respect and in festive mood.
The Father of the Nation was assassinated along with most of his family members on the fateful night on August 15, 1975 when he was only 55 years old.
A children’s rally was brought out at 9:00 am from the Upazila Parishad that ended at the same place. Students of different institutions like Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Agradut Niketon Adarsha High School,Gouripur Govt. Technical School and College, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute, Islamabad Senior Madrasha joined the rally. This rally was attended by UNO of this upazila Margina Akter.
Later, a discussion was held at Upazila Public Hall with Margina Akter, UNO of Gouripur upazila in the chair and and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience..
Besides, From morning to evening different associate organizations of the party, including Awami Jubo League, Mohila Awami League, Krishak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sramik League and various other socio-cultural bodies also chalked out elaborate programmes marking the day.
A discussion was held at Upazila Awami League office where Freedom Fighter Alhaj Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP and other prominent persons were present and addressed the audience.
