The Highway Asia Pacific Association (HAPA) National Baseball Championship begins today at the Paltan Maidan.
Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association has arranged the baseball meet under with the financial assistance of Highway Asia Pacific Association.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder will formally open the two-day long baseball championship today as the chief guest while Deputy-Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Ashiqur Rahman Miku will be with him as the special guest.
A number of eight teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the baseball competition. They are: Dhaka Division team, Rajshahi Division team, Rangpur Division team, Khulna Division team, Chittagong Division team, Sylhet Division team, Barisal Division team and Sirajganj Krira Shikhkha Pratishthan (SKSP).
Top two teams from each group will take place in the semifinals. The winners of the two semifinals will face each other in the final.
The champions and the runners-up will be awarded trophies and medals.
