The 40th National Athletics competition begins tomorrow (Thursday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS)in the city.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr. Biren Sikder MP is expected to inaugurate the three-day meet as the chief guest while Joyjatra Foundation chairperson Helena Jahangir will present as special guest.
A total of 600 men’s and women’s athletes from 64 districts, universities education boards across the country along with Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan and all forces will take part in the 36 events-22 of men’s and 14 of women’s – of the competition.In this regards, a press conference was held on Tuesday at conference room of BNS to give all the details of the meet.
Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF) general secretary M Yahia Changis, BAF treasurer M Mijanur Rahman, Joyjatra Foundation chairperson Helena Jahangir, among others were present on the occasion.
Joyjatra Foundation’s chairperson Helena Jahangir, who was present in the press conference, announced cash prize of Taka 10,000.00 for the fastest man and woman of the competition.
Zahid Ahasan Russel MP, chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry, is expected to attend on the closing day and distribute the prizes.
