The Cotton Group 30th National Age Group Swimming & Diving Competition begins today (Monday). Bangladesh Swimming Federation will arrange the meet with the financial assistance of Cotton Group.
The Swimming Competition will be taken place at the Syed Nazrul Islam National Swimming Complex in Mirpur while the Diving Competition will be held at the Bangladesh Army Diving Pool.
A total of 378 boys and 163 girls from different 15 district sports associations, 34 swimming clubs, BKSP, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP, one education board will participate in the competition.
The budget of the meet is Tk 18,00,000 while Cotton Group, the sponsor of the meet gave Tk 13,00,000 to Bangladesh Swimming Federation and the Federation will provide rest of the money.
President of Bangladesh Swimming Federation and Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral M Farid Habib, ndc, psc will formally open the three-day long swimming competition today as the chief guest while Chairman of the Cotton Group Shaheen Mahmud will be present with him as the special guest.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy, MP will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest tomorrow while Secretary of National Sports Council Shivnath Roy and Managing Director of Cotton Group Solaiman Khan Majlish will be with him as special guests.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, MP will distribute the prizes among the winners on the concluding day (September 3) as the chief guest while Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Banazir Ahmed BPM (bar) and Chairman of the Cotton Group Shaheen Mahmud will be with him as special guests.
