The Saif Power Battery 32nd National Age Group Swimming and Diving competition (boys’ and girls’) will begin tomorrow (Sunday) at Syed Nazrul Islam Swimming Complex at Mirpur.
A total of 789 boys’ and girls’ participants from 71 teams including one divisional sports association, 23 district sports associations, 45 swimming clubs, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan and Bangladesh Ansar are expected to take part in the three-day meet.
However, the numbers of the final player will be fixed after medical test, which will be held today (Saturday).
In the age group competition, the boys’ and girls’ in five groups (U-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 and 18-20) will take part in the meet, sponsored by Saif Powertec Limited and organised by Bangladesh Swimming Federation (BSF).
Saif Powertec Limited handed over a cheque of Taka 20 lakh of the total competition budget to run the meet.
The champion and runner-up teams of the event will get trophy while the best boys’ and girls’ swimmers will have individual trophy.
Besides, those who will able to create new national record will be awarded with cash prize.
It was disclosed at a press conference held on Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium on Friday to provide all the details of the meet.
BSF general secretary MB Saif, BSF joint secretary and tournament committee’s chairman Selim Mia, BSF treasurer Rezaul Hossain Badsha, Saif Powertec Limited director M Ruhul Saif were present, among others, on the occasion.
