State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Wednesday sought more investment in Bangladesh’s fast-growing energy sector, saying that the return of investment in the country is huge.
“We need huge energy for ongoing development projects and the return of investment in Bangladesh’s fast-growing energy sector is massive,” he said while presenting a keynote paper in the Gas Indonesia Summit and Exhibition 2019 at Jakarta Convention Centre.
According to a message received here today, the state minister said the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of Bangladesh is 7 percent during the last one decade with gas.
“If we can increase investment in energy sector then our bilateral development will boost up. Bangladesh is in the first position for Solar Home System,” he said.
“This is the appropriate time for investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector including importing LNG from spot market, setting up land based LNG terminal, exploration of gas/oil from offshore or onshore, installation of LNG based power plant, gas transmission and management,” he added.
Nasrul said that investors will not only enjoy good return of their money but also the state security along with tax holiday for investment in Bangladesh’s energy sector.
According to the summit information, the Gas Indonesia Summit and Exhibition will continue till August 2 and speakers and participants will discuss various issues like development of energy industry, development of resources, natural gas and LNG, youth’s professionalism and flourish of talent.
Later, Nasrul Hamid met with Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan at the convention centre. They discussed energy sector of both countries and its development through bilateral cooperation.
