UNB, Dhaka :
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid has said sorry to people for their sufferings at different parts of the country, including the capital city, due to frequent disruptions in power supply over the last one week.
The junior minister came up with the apology on Wednesday night through a post on his Facebook account.
He, however, hoped that the power supply will become normal across the country by Friday.
“I’m sincerely sorry as common people at
different parts of entire Bangladesh, including Dhaka city, Chittagong and northern region, have been suffering due to the power disruption,” the junior minister said.
He said the supply of fuel oil across the country through waterways is being hampered seriously as water vessel workers has been on a strike over the last one week to realise their various demands.
“That’s why, power generation at oil-powered power stations has been badly affected and it has marked a fall by 1,600 megawatt. At the same time, irrigation to croplands has also slowed down,” Nasrul Hamid observed. Under the circumstances, the state minister said he along with Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan sat with vessel owners and workers on Tuesday, and the owners assured of meeting the demands of the workers.
