Health Minister Mohammed Nasim on Tuesday warned the private medical college hospitals of shut down if they do not follow the rules and regulations.
“It is high time to remind all that the ministry gave approval of many medical colleges generously. It should not be continued,” he said.
The minister said this at a inaugural session of four-day long health campaigning programme on the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) premises.
DRU President Jamal Uddin presided over the programme, while its General Secretary Razu Ahmed moderated it. Associate Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Shahjada Selim and Head of Marketing of Novo Nordisk Pharma (Pvt.) Ltd Dr Mohammad Saiful spoke at the programme, among others.
Nasim said, the private medical college hospitals must improve their quality, and must teach the students properly. Otherwise, the ministry will take stern action against them.
“The ministry has already closed four medical colleges for violating law,” he said.
The medical colleges must have modern library, laboratory, adequate equipments and sufficient number of teachers. If they do not follow our direction, the ministry will take step against the faulty institutions gradually.
