The launching ceremony of the M A Naser Chair was held at BUET Council Bhaban on Saturday, says a press release.
The Chair has been established by BUET Chemical Engineering Alumni Association in the Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET in recognition of the contribution made by Professor M A Naser, former Vice Chancellor, BUET and pioneer in Chemical Engineering Education in Bangladesh. Dr M Sam Mannan, Director of Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Centre Texas A & M University has been appointed as the first holder of M A Naser Chair.
The Chair was launched by Prof Khaleda Ekram, Vice-Chancellor, BUET in presence of distinguished alumni, renowned industrialists and Deans, Heads, Directors and faculty members of BUET. Dr Toufiq Ali, CEO of Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Ltd (KAFCO), Abdul Mauktadir, Managing Director of Incepta Pharmaceuticals, former Vice-Chancellors of BUET, Prof Iqbal Mahmud and Prof Nooruddin Ahmed were present in the ceremony and shared their distinguished views. Representatives of Chevron, Bangladesh National Authority of Chemical Weapon Convention, Armed Forces Division and Dutch-Bangla Bank also joined the occasion and congratulated the organizers.
