Narsingdi Freedom Day was observed in Narsingdi with various programmes on Sunday .
The District Administration with Narsingdi District Unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad and different socio-cultural, professional and political organisations chalked out programmes to celebrate the day.
The programme includes placing floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar, bringing out victory rally, discussion and distribution crests among freedom fighters.
The discussion meeting was held at Narsingdi Shilpakala Academy. DC Narsingdi Abu Nayem Mohammed Maruf Khan addressed the discussion as the Chief Guest.
Chairman of Narsingdi Zila Parishad Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, former principal of Narsingdi Government College Golam Mostafa Miah, former Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Narsingdi District Unit Abdul Motaleb Pathen and President of Narsingdi Press Club Habibur Rahman, among others, addressed it. Former Muktijoddha Commander Motaleb Pathen said after a nine month long guerilla war Narsingdi was liberated from the occupation forces in the last battle on December 12, just four day ahead of the victory day.
DC Maruf Khan described the freedom fighters as the greatest sons of the soil saying that Bangladesh emerged as an independent and sovereign country for immense sacrifices of the valiant sons.
