Barisal Bulls registered a narrow one-run win over Sylhet Super Stars in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
Opting to bat first, Barisal Bulls made 108 off 19.3 overs then they restricted Sylhet Super Stars to 107 for the loss of nine wickets in the regulation 20 overs.
Pacer Al-Amin Hossain played the key role for Barisal’s hard-fought victory. He captured five wickets with a hat-trick. He removed five wickets at the cost of 36 runs.
Spinner Taijul Islam gave him a good support grabbing three wickets for 23 runs.
Pacer Al-Amin Hossain of Barisal Bulls hit the first hat-trick in the 3rd edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. He dismissed Ravi Bopara in his second ball of his second over, removed Nurul Hasan in the third ball and fulfilled his hat-trick after dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim in the fourth ball. Al-Amin Hossain was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
Opener EMDY Munaweera of Sylhet Super Stars who could make a respectable score. He scored 36 from 31 balls with six fours.
Earlier, Barisal Bulls made a modest start as openers Shahriar Nafees and Rony Talukdar put on together 34 runs before Shahriar Nafees (12) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Subashis Roy.
After dismissal of Shahriar Nafees, Barisal lost their wickets in regular intervals and the batsmen of Barisal Bulls failed to build any notable partnership.
Nadif Chowdhury of Barisal scored his team’s highest of 24 from 28 balls while Rony Talukdar hit 20 off 15 balls with two fours.
Besides, Sabbir Rahman, Shahriar Nafees and Taijul Islam added 15, 12 and 10 runs respectively to the Barisal total.
