She is Nargis who started her career as a heroine in the big screen. Later she worked in roles of sister, Bhabi (wife of elder brother) and mother in many movies. She believes many directors and producers of her time are not working in film industry at present. For this reason, she could not get the scope to work now. But she wants to be regular in acting. She has keen interest to continue acting. She urged the newcomer directors to cast her in their works.
While talking in this regard Nargis told this correspondent, “For the last two years I have been absent from acting. It was happened due to my physical illness. Now I am well and want to acting. I request the directors to cast me in their works now. In fact, I want to utilise my acting skill.”
From her childhood Nargis has been acting in TV plays and theatre. During that time she worked in commercial stage plays. Her acted first theatre play was Kuashar Kanna. Anisur Rahman gave its direction. Later she worked in many theatre plays. She acted in Bangladesh Television’s Ayna series. Therefore, she also acted in Bou Kotha Kou and Heeramon.
She is mother of a son named Badhon and a daughter named Tuli. She lost her husband when her children did not grow up. She brought up them laboriously. She has not only won the hearts of many viewers by virtue of her acting but also won the minds of her children as their mother.
It is noted that when Nargis was a student of school late Khan Ataur Rahman came to her elder sister Anwara to cast her in his movie Jhorer Pakhi. During that time Anwara was too busy that she couldn’t give him schedule. Later Nargis got the scope to work in Anwara’s role in that movie. By this way Nargis started her career as a heroine in big screen through Jhorer Pakhi, which was released in 1973. Though it was made by Khan Ata but name of CB Zaman was mentioned as its director. While working in that movie Khan Ata gave her name Nargis from Hosne Ara. But ER Khan gave her name Shabnam Kelly.
Then Nargis also acted in many movies like Obodan, Gunahgar, Champa Chameli, Bhai Aamar Bhai, Adalot, Nolok, Fakir Maznu Shah, Rajkumari Chandrabhan, Rong Berong, Mayar Badhon, Sareng Bou, Smriti Tumi Bedona, Kolonkini, Ramer Sumoti, Sangsharsha, Pinjor, etc.
