Arup Barua Topu of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) moved the petition on behalf of Shipra, a student of Stamford University’s Film and Media Studies department. Sub-inspector Md Shafiqul Islam filed a case against Shipra with Ramu Police Station under the narcotics control act on August 1.
Shipra and two other students of Stamford University — Shahedul Islam Sifat and Tahsin Rifat Nur — had gone to a cottage with slain ex-army major Sinha. Police arrested Shipra and Rifat from Nilima Resort on August 1, recovered liquor and marijuana and filed a narcotics case against them.
