Narail district will take on Munshiganj district today in the opening match of the Walton Motorcycle 4th National Rugby Competition at the Paltan Maidan. The match kicks-off at 11.00 am.
Bangladesh Rugby Federation has arranged the rugby tournament while Walton is the title sponsor of the rugby meet.
Additional Director of Walton FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn will inaugurate the seven-day long rugby competition as the chief guest while Secretary of National Sports Council Shivnath Roy, Sports Ambassador of Walton Jobera Rahman Linu, Adviser (Administration) of ATN Bangla Mir Motahar Hossain will be with him as special guests. General Secretary of Bangladesh Rugby Federation Mousum Ali, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Syed Ahmed will be present at the time.
A number of 12 teams dividing into four groups will participate in the seven-day long rugby competition.
Bangladesh Army, Madaripur district, Rangpur district are in Group A, Chittagong district, Bagerhat district, Sirajganj district are in Group B, Dhaka district, Faridpur district, Gazipur district are in Group C, Narail district, Munshiganj district, Pabna district are in Group D.
The budget of the tournament is Tk 5, 27,000 while Walton has given Tk 3,00,000 to Bangladesh Rugby Federation and the Federation will provide rest of the money.
The champions will get Tk 20,000 while the runners-up will be awarded Tk 10,000 as prize-money.
Besides, the Player of the Tournament will be given home appliance from Walton.
The final of the rugby meet will be held on September 17.
