Naogaon District made a flying start in the Walton 4th National Youth Women’s Handball Championship beating Jessore District by 26-6 goals in the opening match at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Saturday.
The winners led the first half by 11-4 goals.
In the other opening day’s matches, Jamalpur DSA defeated Kushtia DSA by 14-2 goals after leading the first half 6-1; Dhaka DSA outplayed Bagerhat DSA by 10-1 goals after dominating first half 6-1; Panchagarh DSA overcame Dhaka DSA by 15-14 goals after trailing by 4-7 in the first half while Rajshahi DSA played to a 4-4 draw with Dinajpur DSA after leading the first session 4-1.
Earlier, Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Mahbub Ara Gini inaugurated the tournament Saturday morning, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
Operative Director of the meet’s sponsor Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, BHF general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, chairman of the tournament committee Engineer Ali Azam, tournament secretary M Mokbul Hossain were also spoke on the occasion.
