Naogaon DSA became champions in the Walton 4th National Youth Women’s Handball Competition beating Jamalpur DSA by 27-17 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.
The winners led the first half 13-8.
Nurjahan of Naogaon scored 12 goals and her teammate Purnima netted six goals and their teammate Naznin scored five goals.
On the other hand, Alpona of Jamalpur scored five goals and their teammate Mishti netted four goals.
Purnima of Naogaon DSA was adjudged the player of the tournament, while Faozia of Jamalpur DSA was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the meet.
After the final match, Secretary of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh Awami League Harunur Rashid distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest, while Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn was with him as the special guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Chairman of the Tournament Committee Engineer Ali Azam, Vice-President of BHF Md Nurul Islam, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Md Makbul Hossain were present at the time.
