Najma Sarwar, seating Woman Vice-chairman and acting Chairman of Kachua Upazila Parishad in Bagerhat district has got (AL) nomination for Kachua Upazila Parisahd by polls. The candidature of Najma Sarwar was finally decided in a meeting of AL Local Government Public-Representatives Nomination Board held in the Ganabhaban, the official residence of the premier on Saturday morning. It was confirmed by Biplob Barua, Office Secretary of Awami League.
Najma Sarwar has been serving Bangladesh Awami League as different capacities of its Kachua Upazila unit for long. At present she is the President of Kachua Upazila Mohila Awami League. The seat of Kachua Upazila Parishad fell vacant following the death of S M Mahfuzur Rahman on May 05, 2021. Then Woman Vice-chairman Najma Sarwar has been acting as the Upazila Chairman (in-chgarge).
According to the schedule declared by the Election Commission, the by-poll will be held on October 07. The last date for submission of nomination papers is September 13e while the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is September 19.
