The Najenda-Aziz Trust lecture organized by the Centre for Moral Development of Dhaka University was held on Thursday at RC Majumder Arts auditorium of the university.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique addressed the function as chief guest with Arts Faculty Dean Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
Professor of Economics Department Abul Barkat delivered the lecture on “Understanding Development of Economic Sciences from the perspective of Morality and Ethics: On Poverty of Philosophy”.
Donor of the trust fund Prof Galib Ahsan Khan delivered welcome speech.
Prof Arefin Siddique urged the students to play the pioneering role to eradicate economical and mental poverty of human being.
The moral development is a must for uplifting the human civilization, the VC said.
Prof Abul Barkat said the global economy has been facing problems from unethical activities.
Therefore, “We have to equip our economy with moral values as well as we have to take lessons from philosophy,” he added.
