Naimul’s death Court orders to confiscate properties of 5 including newsman Anisul

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday ordered the authorities concerned to confiscate properties of the daily Prothom Alo Associate Editor Anisul Hoque among five accused in the case filed over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Naimul Abrar.
Other accused persons are- Mahitul Alam, Senior Assistant Editor of Kishor Alo, Kabir Bakul, head of events and activation, Shah Paran Tushar and Shuvashish Pramanik, assistants of events of the magazine.
Magistrate Mohammed Jashim issued the order after hearing on Wednesday. The court also asked authorities to submit a compliance report on September 20.
Dhaka Residential Model College’s nine-grade student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat, was electrocuted during the anniversary programme of the Prothom Alo’s youth magazine Kishor Alo on the school campus on November 2, last year. He became unconscious while attending the function.
The 14-year-old student was taken to the Universal Medical College and Hospital in Mohakhali after 45 minutes of the incident, whereas Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital was very close to the venue of the event. The incident occurred at 3.30 pm while Abrar was declared dead at 4.51 pm that day.
On November 6, victim’s father Mujibur Rahman filed a case with the Fourth Additioonal Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka in this connection.
On January 16, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam issued an arrest warrant against 10 people including Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman. Later Matiur Rahman and five others secured anticipatory bail from the apex court.
