Nahidul scripts South Zone’s first victory in BCL

Nahidul Islam came up with all-round performance as BCB South Zone secured their first victory in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), edging Islami Bank East Zone past by three wickets at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Nahidul took two wickets in bowling before he scored a crucial 27 runs in the low scoring match to help the side win the game.
South Zone conceded an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of North Zone in the first match. East Zone however tasted their second straight defeat, having being beaten by Central Zone by 22 runs in the first game.
Being sent for bat first, East Zone put up 192-8, thanks to a 69-run knock from captain Imrul Kayes. Irfan Shukkur scored 33 while Afif Hossain made 29.
Pacer Mustafizur was the most successful bowler for South Zone with 3-44 while Nahidul ended with 2-17 from 10 overs.
No one could hit even a half-century for South Zone but all of their batters’ little contribution made it bigger for them as they raced to the victory with 193-7 in 45.5 overs.
Mahedi Hasan was the highest scorer for them with an unbeaten 37. Nahidul and Myshukur Rahman made identical 27 runs. Afif and Nayeem Hasan scalped three wickets apiece for East Zone.
