Education Minister yesterday visited Eden Mohila College’s Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall that got cracks due to earthquake on April 25.
Chief Engineer of Education Engineering Department Dewan Mohammad Hanzala and principal of the college Hosne Ara were present, among others, an official handout said here.
During the visit, the minister visited 10th and 11th floors of the hall and examined walls and floors of number of rooms and corridors and took observation of the engineers.
The engineers primarily observed that as the cracks were developed on the
walls not at the pillars, so it is not dangerous for the building.
The minister directed the chief engineer to submit a detail report about the cracks and also make recommendations on it by today.
Resident students of the hall have been evacuated after a number of cracks developed at the building on Monday, two-day after the country was jolted by a tremor.
On Saturday noon, a 7.8 magnitude of earthquake in Nepal shook Bangladesh, India and Chinese Tibet and caused much damage.
