Naf River going to be no fishing zone

Home Minister Asaduzzman Khan Kamal said the government is considering the matter of yaba smuggling in Chittagong seriously. “We will likely to declare the Naf river fishing free zone to control yaba smuggling though the river way in Bangladesh.”
Addressing the destruction of recovered drugs including yaba at the head quarter of elite force Rapid Action Battalion-7 (RAB-7) at Patenga as chief guest Kamal said, “We are considering a crash program on Naf River to control yaba smuggling. After finalization of the program, we will discuss with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After approval of the Prime Minister, we will declare the program soon.”
“We will stop all fishing at Naf river. The fishermen can do fishing everywhere, but not at Naf river. After that Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) will patrol the water territory of Bangladesh. The smuggling through Naf River will come under the vigilance of BGB and BCG,” he added. Addressing the function, the Chief of RAB Benazir Ahmed said proposals were sent to declare the Naf River as no fishing zone. “After that time, we will get the benefit.”
Besides, State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) A J M Nasir Uddin, Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority Abdus Salam, Additional Director General (ADG) of Narcotic Department Atahar Ali and Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Iqbal Bahar also addressed the function.
Later, the officials of RAB-7 destructed 35.70 lakh pieces yaba, 200 KG Ganjas, 7181 bottles of Phensidyl syrups, 200 bottles of foreign wines which were recovered by the RAB-7 in different raids in the current year. The destructed drugs were worth around Tk 179.27 crore. The recovered drugs were destructed in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal amd other guests.
