BSS, Dhaka :
Naeem Islam struck an unbeaten 126 as BCB North Zone reached 246-4 on day one of the second round game against BCB South Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.
At the end of the day, Mahidul Islam Ankan was on 53 alongside Naeem after they combined for 132-run in an undefeated fifth-wicket stand. Captain Marshal Ayub who struck a century in the last game was the other notable scorer with 47 runs.
Put into bat first, North Zone were left in a troublesome situation after both of their openers-Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon were dismissed for duck. The dismissal of the two openers in quick succession left them in a precarious 7-2 as the fast bowler Nahidul Islam removed both of them. It soon was made 24-3 when Junaid Siddique was out on 15.
Marshall Ayub and Naeem then resisted the pumped up South Zone bowlers and shared a 90-run partnership which ended with the dismissal of the former.
