Striker Nabib Newaz Ziban of Bangladesh Football team left the city for Qatar on Wednesday to join the Bangladesh squad.
Earlier, Ziban could not go to Qatar due to injury. Nabib Newaz got injury in the second match of the Bangabandhu FIFA International Football Series between Bangladesh and Nepal at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on November 17. After getting injury his MRI was done. The report of MRI was not good. So, Nabib decided that he would not go to Qatar. But now he feel good. Nabib joined Bangladesh Football team, which are now staying Qatar to play their away match against Qatar in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers 2022 and AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2023 on December 4.
Head Coach of Bangladesh Football team Jamie Day also asked him to join Bangladesh squad.
Ziban said to journalists on Tuesday, ” Our physiotherapist suggested me to take seven-day leisure. My participation chance to play against Qatar was a fifty/fifty. As my chance
to play the match was uncertain I decided not to go Qatar. But it was a wrong decision. But now I feel good after taking medication according to the advice of our physiotherapist. I hope I shall play against Qatar.”
Ziban scored against Nepal in the first match on November 13. He also had played well in the second match against Nepal before he got injury in his knee on November 17.
He has tested negative for coronavirus. But Jamie Day has been suffering from Covid-19. So, Jamie Day cannot join his boys now.
