Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railway ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP said to watch the illegal angling in Halda river, a speed board was deployed in the river which disappeared from Halda but that boat now traced at Patenga.
He blamed the monitoring of the District Fishery Officials .He also comments that that speed board was given for Halda river to watch the fish breeding and preservation of the breeding centre under the supervision of district fisheries directorate. The lawmaker disclosed it while addressing the seminar jointly organized by PKSP and IDF on ‘Preservation of Natural fish breeding centre Halda & its Development’ at TIC hall in city on Saturday as chief guest. Managing Director of PKSF and former Principal secretary Md. Abdul Karim presided the seminar.
Vice chancellor of East Delta University Prof. Md. Sekander Khan was the keynote speaker in it.
Among others, Deputy Managing Director of PKSP Fazlul Kader, Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Md. Shamsul Arefin, police super Md. Nure Alam Mina, Raozan Upazila chairman Ehsanul Haider chowdhury Babul spoke on the occasion . Prof. Shahidul Amin chowdhury delivered address of welcome in it. Prof Dr. Md. Manzurul Kibria of Marine Biology of Ctg University also discussed the present situation of Halda and its future precautionary measures to preserve the natural breeding of fish.
Chief guest on the occasion, ABM Fazle Karim chowdhury MP said Executive Magistrates of Raozan and Hathazari upazilas will walk beside the bank of the river to watch any types of illegal structures towards environment pollution of the river and suggests if any such anti-environment structure is detected may be demolished immediately.
He also asks the concerned officials of Fisheries Deptt and Environment Deptt aimed at preserving the natural fish breeding centre and creating awareness among the river side dwellers about the significance of the fish breeding .
Deputy Commissioner Md. Shamsul Arefin also assures all out cooperation to preserve the Halda river from pollution , sources said.
