Mystery not yet unveiled over Rakib’s death

School student Ifran Khan Rakib, 17, was killed in a mysterious car accident on Moghbazar flyover in the capital on July 6, 2019.
Rakib’s father Dil Mohammad Khan is still going door to door seeking justice even after filing a murder case claiming the incident a pre-planned murder. He has also presented some important facts and evidences to the investigating agency.
But the murder case was not being properly
investigated for unknown reasons as the accused family is influential, Dil Mohammad Khan alleged at a press briefing in Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Tuesday.
He also said that Rakib had intimacy with some local youths who were senior to him. One of them named Joy had threatened Rakib on July 5, 2019 saying that he would kill him. Rakib informed it to his family.
While asked for reason, Rakib told them that they had been trading drugs like Yaba. And Joy wanted to get their car in exchange for Tk 5000 per day. Joy also offered Rakib to get involved with drug trade. But Rakib disagreed. At that time, other accused Rafin, Sabab, Sadi were also present there. They are all relatives of influential people, he further said.
Rakib’s father claimed that his son was murdered in a pre-planned way by them. They suspected that Rakib may had a lot of information about their drug business, so that Rakib’s mobile phone was damaged after the incident, claimed Dil Mohammad.
He also alleged that police did not take the murder case first while they went to Tejgaon Industrial police station. Although the incident took place under the jurisdiction their police station, they sent them to Hatirjheel police station for filing the case.
Police at first arrested Sadi, but later he was released. Police even did not collect proper evidences from the spot. However, he collected the evidences from different sources and provided those to the police, the father said.
Rakib’s father also lodged complaint against two police officers with Inspector General of Police office. And the case was transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) for further investigation. He provided the evidences to them, but PBI also gave final report to the court excluding the criminals, he further alleged.
The victim’s father claimed that police did not doing their job properly. They all were giving biased report as the accused families are influential.
Now RAB will investigate the case. But it is also hanging in the home ministry for unknown reasons, he said.
