A private university student succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday afternoon in the capital that raised question about the death.
The deceased has been identified as Shohag Mia (26), a BBA final year student of Queens University in the capital. The deceased used to stay in a mess under Dakkhinkhan Police Station. His father Abdus Salam is a shopkeeper at Herondopara in Tangail district.
The roommates of the deceased said that the victim was burnt when he came into close contact with an electric wire on the rooftop of the mess on
April 18 mornings. But Police said that the wire was at a distance of at least nine feet from the edge of the rooftop.
Abdus Salam, father of the victim, said that Shohag was burnt while he was sleeping in his room and raised his fingers to the roommates for the tragedy.
He said that wanted to see Shohag to be highly educated. He never showed hesitation to remit money to meet his educational expenses. But my dream has been lost forever. He was the eldest among his six children.
While undergoing treatment, Shohagh told him in a low voice that his two roommates Sarowar and Mehedi along with house owner Khorshed Alam had gone for a walk to a nearby rail track on the night of April 17 and stayed there until 3am, he said.
Shohag rose from bed at 10am when he felt that his body was burning. Hearing him screaming, Sarowar and Mehedi came and took him to a nearby clinic, Abdus Salam said.
“I came to Dhaka hearing the incident and paid Tk59, 000 as hospital bill. I admitted my son to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 9pm on April 19. But he died while undergoing treatment”, he said.
