A eight-day long Book Fair began at local town hall ground on Saturday evening.
Mymensingh Municipality organised the fair in cooperation with Jatiyo Gantha Kendra.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Khalilur Rahman was present as chief guest and formally inaugurated the fair with Poura Mayor Ekramul Haque Teto in the chair.
Deputy Director of National Books Centre Sumita Islam, President of Srijanshil Publishers Association of Bangladesh Shehab uddin, Cheif Exeacutive of Mymensingh Pourashava AKM Tariqul Alam and panel Chairman and Councelor Nazrul Islam among others spoke on the occasion.
Speakers stressed the need for book fair in order to make a knowledge based prosperous society.
Speakers urged the young generation specially students to read more books for attaining knowledge.
A total of 50 stalls have been set up at the fair.
