Xinhua, Yangon :
Myanmar has planned to hold a regional investment forum for Chin State in March next year to seek investment to the less-developed state.
According to the official Global New Light of Myanmar Friday, the Chin State Investment Forum 2019 will take place at the Myanmar Convention Center (MCC) in Yangon on Mar. 16.
The forum aims to attract more local and foreign investments in the region as well as to introduce local products from Chin State to the investors at the event.
In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, Chin State did not see any local or foreign investment.
The country has changed its fiscal year period from original April-March to October-September beginning 2018-2019, producing a six-month transitional gap.
Figures show that only 833.42 million kyats (528,183 U.S. dollars) investment entered Chin State’s hotel industry during the six-month mini-budget or transitional period from April to September this year.
Hydropower production, hotels and tourism industry, small and medium-sized enterprises and urban development are the potential sectors for large investments in Chin State, the report said.
