United States ambassador-at-large for International Religious Freedom, Sam Brownback on Wednesday emphasized on ensuring religious freedom and citizen rights of Rohingyas in Myanmar.
Talking to the reporters after visiting the Rohingya camp at Kutupalong in Ukhia, Brownback said United States was working to ensure religious freedom and citizen rights of Rohingyas after returning to Myanmar.
“The refugees will return to their homeland after the Myanmar government ensures their security, religious freedom and citizen rights also return the looted assets of ancestors”, he said.
The Rohingyas were victimized of ethnic discrimination and oppression in Myanmar. They were forced to cross into Bangladesh to save their lives, he said.
Earlier, Brownback also talked with the Rohingyas who took shelter at the no man’s-land on Tumbru bordering area around 11 am.
Later in the afternoon, he also visited Madhurchhara Rohingya camp in Kutupalong.
After concluding his Turkey visit, Sam Brownback landed in Cox’s Bazar in the morning.
Brownback will leave the county on April 20, after visiting Rohingya camps at Kutupalong, Madhurchhara, no man’s-land at Tumbru.
