Myanmar exported over 22,000 ton of white rice and parboiled rice mainly to Europe, Asia and Africa in the last week of June, official media reported Friday.
The country earned 6.5 million U.S. dollars from the export to these countries through sea-borne trade during the period.
Myanmar exports a variety of Emata rice, Ngasein rice, sticky rice, parboiled rice and broken rice to foreign countries including member states of the European Union (EU), South Africa and China.
The country exported a total of 700,000 tons of rice as of June in fiscal year 2017-2018.
In last fiscal year (2016-2017), about 1.5 million tons of rice were exported to Asian countries, European Union member states and African nations while 50 percent predominantly went to neighboring China mainly through border gates.
