Myanmar earns over $1b USD from natural gas export in 7 months

Myanmar has earned about 1.64 billion U.S. dollars from natural gas export in the first seven months of the present fiscal year 2017-2018, increased by 20 million U.S. dollars compared to the same period in last FY 2016-2017, official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Monday.
Currently, gas production from pipelines are declining, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Power.
The country’s natural gas which is usually exported to Thailand is extracted from Yetagon gas field in Taninthayi offshore, Zawtika project in the Gulf of Moattama as well as from Yadana gas field.
Natural gas production from Yetagon gas field declines to 250 million cubic feet for export to Thailand while it was 330 million cubic feet of daily production in the previous days.
Also, daily gas production from Zawtika projects decreases to 250 million cubic feet for export to Thailand and 80 million cubic feet for local consumption.
Normally, over 910 million cubic feet of gas production including 711 million cubic feet for export were daily produced from Yadana gas field and it declines to 800 million cubic feet of overall gas production.
At present, about 450 million cubic feet for export to China and 100 million cubic feet for local consumption are daily extracted from Shwe natural gas field which was discovered in Rakhine offshore in 2014.
