Head Coach of Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s National Football team Golam Rabbani Choton said, “My girls will play competitive football.”
Choton spoke at a press conference at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation House on Thursday. General Secretary of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Chairman of the Media Committee of BFF Md Amirul Islam Babu, Chairperson of the Women’s Football Committee of BFF Mahfuza Akter Kiron, Technical & Strategic Director of BFF Paul Thomas Smalley, Operative Director (Head of Sports & Welfare Department) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, Captain of Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s National Football team Krishna Rani were present at the conference.
Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s National Football team will leave the city today for Thailand to take part in the AFC Under-16 Women’s Championship scheduled to be held in Thailand from September 10 to September 23. Walton Group has sponsored the Bangladesh Under-16 Women’s National Football team.
A total of eight teams splitting into two groups will take part in the championship.
Bangladesh, North Korea, Japan, Australia are in Group-B, while Thailand, China, South Korea, Laos are in Group-A.
Bangladesh will take on North Korea on September 11, face Japan on September 14, meet Australia on September 17.
The champions of the Group-A will face the runners-up of the Group-B in the first semi-final on September 20, while the champions of the Group-B will meet the runners-up of the Group-A in the second semi-final on the same day.
The winners of the two semi-finals will face each other in the final on September 23.
Choton said, ” The girls have been practicing for one year. The girls played some exhibition matches. They beat China Under-14 Women’s National Football team by 3-1 goals in a practice match there. Hoping that they will bring a good result.”
Babu said, ” The girls have been working hard for a year. Even they did not get holidays marking this Eid-ul-Azha.”
Kiron said, ” The girls have been taking part in a one-year intensive training. Thanks to BFF boss Kazi Salahuddin who managed all sorts of expenditure for the girls.”
Paul Smalley said, ” We shall play top three teams in our group. The girls will present competitive football. The tournament will be exciting for the girls.”
Krishna Rani said, ” We shall try to present our best. We have taking a preparation for one year. It is our achievement that we are going to play a notable tournament.”
