Mustard cultivation gaining popularity in Netrakona

Mustard cultivation has been gaining popularity in all the ten upazilas of the district during the current season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 3,446 hectare of land have been brought under the cultivation with the production target of 4,000 tonnes of the oil seeds.
The farmers of the district have already cultivated 3,000 hectares of land after harvesting short duration variety of Aman paddy.
DAE crop specialists said the farmers have been showing their keen interests in farming the Mustard this Rabi season after getting better yielding rate and fair price of the oil seeds in last several years.
The Mustard growers were now seen rendering their field-level service round the clock for sowing Mustard seeds on their farm lands.
Deputy Director of DAE Samir Kumar Sarker told BSS that field-level officials and agri-experts of DAE have been working to let the Mustard growers know the methods of achieving better yielding rate with reducing the production costs by applying latest agricultural technology.
