Bangladesh bowling coach Courtney Walsh said that he is happy to see Mustafizur Rahman returning back to his best through recovering in the right direction.
Mustafizur had long association with injury and even during the game against India he had a pulled his calf muscle that only adds more miseru in the national dressing room.
Mustafizur has had to endure a number of injuries in his career so far. The start of the ordeal was in England in early 2016 where he picked up a shoulder strain playing in the T20 Blast. A grade-two lateral ankle injury followed while he was taking part in a football drill, ruling him out of the start of Bangladesh Premier League 2017. He also missed the T20I series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, which Afghanistan won 3-0, and also missed the Tests in the Caribbean, which Bangladesh again lost 2-0.
”That the thing, I said from day one since he was injured that he would need some time to get fit, to be strong enough and match fit. I think he is in the right direction in terms of recovery,” Walsh told reporters on Friday.
”Many people said he wont be able to be back there once again, he had seen some good days and bad days in terms of cricket. In terms of mentality, physical fitness and the injury he had, I don’t know if he will be back where he was beforehand,” he said.
”If his confidence comes back then his natural strength will comeback. It was no minor injury that he had so its good to see he is heading into the right direction. I hope, before the end of this world cup we can see him back at his best,” he added.
Walsh believes Mustafizur will be key behind Bangladesh progress in the World Cup.
”If he can give us his best performance in the World cup it will do him a lot of good as well as the Bangladesh. Everything is going fine at the moment, he has got some slight niggles,” he said.
”If we get him fully fit as many as 99.5 percent then I will be very happy. His bowling is coming on tremendously and his work ethics have been fantastic. He is always keen to do things that will improve his game so I am very happy that he is getting back to his best,” he concluded.
