‘Wonder Boy’ Mustafizur Rahman was named Emerging Cricketer of the Year, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday.
After adjudged the Promising Cricketer of the Year by ICC, Mustafizur Rahman said, “It is the best prize for me this year. This prize will be motivated me to do well in future. I am very glad and feel proud to win the prize. Specially as a first Bangladeshi to achieve this prize.”
He said, ” To play in the International Cricket is a dream for every promising player. I had also dream to play in the International Cricket. I am giving thanks to those, who have given me inspiration from my starting of my career. I want to assure that I shall give my best in future and will execute all my opportunities.”
Mustafiz was named the Emerging Player of the Year after judging his performance from 14th September,2015 to 20th September, 2016.
The ‘Cutter Boy’ grabbed eight wickets playing three One Day International (ODI) matches and claimed 19 wickets playing 10 Twenty20 International matches in this period.
Mustafizur Rahman captured 26 wickets playing nine ODI matches with a best figure of 6/43. He harpooned 22 wickets playing 13 Twenty20 International matches with a best figure of 5/22.
He bagged four wickets playing two Test matches.
