AHM Mustafa Kamal, who has just resigned as the ICC President, on Thursday refuted an ICC media release that misquoted him over his apology mentioned in his resignation letter.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) in a media release posted on its website on Wednesday claimed that Mustafa Kamal, in his resignation letter sent to ICC chief executive David Richardson, offered his apologies to all associated with the ICC.
However, a press release signed by Mustafa Kamal’s secretary Shafi Chowdhury on Thursday said he, out of courtesy, rendered his apology to all associated with the ICC if he had hurt anybody of them during his association with the body for almost six years.
“For almost 6 years now I am with you people (ICC) in various capacities. During this period if I had hurt anybody I would like to submit my apology to all of them,” the press release quoted the immediate past ICC chief as mentioning in the resignation letter.
It said, “With regard to the resignation of Mustafa Kamal from the post of ICC President on Wednesday, it has been observed that some misunderstandings have arisen about the contents of the resignation letter submitted by Mustafa Kamal and ICC’s media release on this issue.”
The release said what Mustafa Kamal mentioned in his letter is just a courtesy maintained by a gentleman. “We hope there will be no more misunderstandings about the contents of the resignation letter submitted by Mustafa Kamal.”
