Bagerhat Correspondent :
A noble example of humanity was set up by some 4 Muslim youths when they performed the funeral ceremony of one Nirod Pal (65) who died of corona positive in Rampal Upazila Health Complex in Bagerhat district at Wednesday night as no relatives or neighbours of the same community came forward to do the same, it was disclosed to the newsmen by Dr. Sukanta Kumar Pal, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer of Rampal.
The officer added, Nirod Pal of village Betkata within Rampal Sadar Union Parishad was admitted to Rampal Upazila Hospital (Health Complex) with corona symptoms. Later, he was detected as a corona positive patient and then he was shifted to isolation centre where he expired at Wednesday night while he was undergoing treatment. During the whole night only his son Prodip Pal (40) stayed there. It was not possible only on the part of Prodip to perform his father’s funeral ceremony. So the dead was lying there for more than 12 hours. In the following morning when Upazila Health Officer came to the Hospital found it. Being asked Prodip told him, no relatives nor any neighbour of our community are not at all willing to take the dead body for cremation as they all are afraid of corona. The officer further told, finding no other alternative I informed a local Islami volunteer team named ”Khidmat-e-Khalaf” of the matter. Then the volunteer team consists of 4 Muslim youths appeared there, took the dead body to local Mirakhali crematorium where they completed the funeral ceremony successfully, His son Prodip only put the fire into the mouth of his father at the time of lighting the funeral pile. Not only that but also he did not touch the dead body of his father at all.
The volunteer team consists of 4 members. They are Mawlana Husain Ahmed, Mawlana Zulfikar Ali, Abdur Rahman and Delwar Hossain. Mawlana Husain Ahmed disclosed, we formed the volunteer team in the last year when corona pandemic broke out in our country. Our motto is to perform the funeral ceremony of those (irrespective of religion) who will die of corona positive and if any body will not come forward to do the same (funeral performance) for fear of pandemic.
Zamil Hossain Zamu, Chairman of Rampal Sadar Union Parishad told, relatives and dear and near ones of late Nirod Pal did not come forward to perform his funeral ceremony for fear of corona.
