The first ‘Music Festival’ was held on Jagannath University (JnU) campus amid great festivity arranged by the Department of Music on Thursday.
The daylong programme of the festival was marked with colourful cultural functions.
“Aaguner poroshmoni chhoyao prane” following the song the former and encumbrance students of the University (JnU) celebrated the festival at the central auditorium. When the clock reaches at 10.00am, the Chief Guest of the programme Asadujjaman Nur, Minister of Cultural Affairs, inaugurated the festival by enkindling ‘mongol prodip’. During the time, JnU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Mijnur Rahaman was present as special guest in the programme.
The Minister said, “Students are the steersmen of a society. They can remove all kinds of ignorance, apartheid, fanaticism by practicing cultural activities.”
He also urged the students for implementation of the ideology of Bangabandhu and to be an enlighten man.
At the outset of the programme, JnU VC received Dhaka University (DU) Music Department Professor Dr Leena Taposhi, Shanto-Marium University (SMU) Music Department Chairman Prodip Kumar Nandi, University of Development Alternative (UDA) Music Department coordinator Asit De by giving Honourary crest.
Chaired by Music Deparment Chairperson Professor Dr Laisa Ahmed Lisa, the programme was conducted by Mahmudul Hasan, Lecturer of the department.
The students of the Department of Music of JnU, DU, UDA, and SMU performed in the cultural functions.
