Music director Farid Ahmed dies of Covid-19

National Film Award winning noted music director Farid Ahmed passed away due to Covid-19. After fighting the deadly virus for 20 days, he breathed his last at around 9:30am on Tuesday in the capital’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital. According to doctors, 60 per cent of his lungs were damaged. He had some other physical complications also. He left behind his wife, Shiuly Akhter and his daughter, Durdana Farid and admires. Farid Ahmed along with
his wife had tested positive for
coronavirus in the last week of March. When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to BSMMU
on the night of March 25. He had been under life support in the
ICU since April 11.
Farid Ahmed’s nephew play director Dipu Hazra informed that his uncle was buried at Rayerbazar graveyard after Asr prayer. His namaz-e-janaza was held at Law College playground in the capital’s Kalabagan area yesterday.
Farid Ahmed won the National Film Award in 2017 for his work in Tumi Robe Nirobe. He had made
hundreds of title songs for popular shows such as Ityadi, Hridoye Mati
O Manush and Channel i Sera Kontho. Some of his seminal work includes Tumi Chara Ami Jeno Morubhumi with Kumar Bishwajit, Ferari Siren with Runa Laila and Dalchhut Projaputi voiced by Sabina Yasmin and Runa Laila.
